![]() I wouldn't be surprised if yours did the same thing in the near future. The replacement I installed was still working two years later when I sold the car it was in. ![]() No display, no sound, no button illumination. A few days later the radio went completely dead and stopped working altogether. In my case it started to go bad when the CD player wouldn't load/play/eject and the buttons & knobs became unresponsive. On some devices, the digital audio output is set to off by default. When you find the one you want to be the main display, press and hold the "RCL" button until you hear a small beep.įWIW a few other members (Ion and Vue owners - Vue uses same radios) on here have had to replace the exact same radio - including myself. Check the digital audio output setting on the connected device. You can page through the different display modes by pressing the "i" button. If the speaker wire is disconnected, you can reconnect it by following these steps: Unplug the radio from the power outlet and remove the back panel. Radio has power, lights up and tunes into. Earlier in the day the alternator was replaced because of a voltage regulator gone bad, which I also hold responsible for blowing out a few light bulbs in the car, as well as the low beam headlights. Sometimes when i start the MMI the screen lights up and then goes black and starts again. The RDS (text) info for your radio stations may not be displaying because another display mode may have been set as the default. 2001 Outback: Radio has power, lights up and tunes into stations on all bands, but no sound. The radio / MMI / CD works but i get no sound from the speakers. It’s not just the radio this whole area doesn’t work (besides the clock). Here is an example of what it looks like in my car. The screen lights up again and everything works. If the amplifier is broken, it will be visibly damaged and will not produce sound when you tap it. When the power for the radio/cd player does turn back on randomly, the sound quality is great. Then, look for the amplifier and check to see if it is broken. To do this, unplug the radio from the power outlet and remove the back panel. ![]() If you have tweeters in the sail panels, a blown fuse for the factory amp would cause no sound but not affect the operation of the radio. If your radio is not producing sound, the first thing you should do is check the speaker. They just suggested temporarily removing the fuse (to reset the radio) as a solution. Nick元0 didn't say it could be a bad fuse. I guess I'll chalk it up to a gremlin and hope it doesn't return. I don't see how it could be a fuse if everything otherwise worked. This morning I tried every preset and ran the stations and got nothing. If this is the reason in your case, you may. Started the car this evening and the radio played fine. Amplifier connectors, make sure cables also connected properly. My audio guys also said to format the hard drive in Fat32 data format as there is an 80% chance that's what it boots on now. Speaker connectors, make sure speaker cable is properly connected to it. How would one go about porting the boot software from a bad drive to a new one. My San Jose based radio/audiophile guys all said "probably a hard drive boot error / etc". I know these are the same units as in Chryslers. When NIT boots up you see (1) Ferrari logo, (2) get a brief connection warning, (3) radio returns to same channel / volume where it was last.for about 5 seconds.and then reboot all over again. My (very qualified) dealership tried all their tricks. Sorry for the Necropost but the Becker Harman NIT radio head unit on my 2016 Cali T is rebooting every 10-20 seconds.
